COLUMBUS, OH. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team played Ohio Dominican to a draw on Saturday evening. Wesleyan erased a 2-0 deficit to pull even in the second half before the match ended 2-2.
It was a tale of two halves as ODU Panthers (1-6-3, 1-3-2 G-MAC) got a quick goal in the 17
th minute and took that 1-0 lead into intermission. ODU outshot the Panthers 17-4 in the opening 45 minutes with nine shots being on goal.
Dominican's lead doubled in the 51
st minute with a goal through the right side of the net. After that second half tally the Panthers emerged from their slumber and went on the attack.
Six minutes later in the 57
th minute, Dominican lost track of possession and a pass back to the keeper resulted in an indirect free kick. As the net was flooded with most of the players on the field,
Haley Osborne's kick found
Haylie Panter who cleaned-up for the first score of the game for Wesleyan.
A minute later, ODU mishandled possession as they were trying to clear the ball at midfield the Panthers stole possession.
Anna Klueh broke free for a one-on-one attack. Her shot beat the keeper through the top shelf of the Dominican net.
Both Osborne and Panter had opportunities to break the tie in the 69
th and 81
st minute respectively, but both shots were saved. For as prolific as Dominican was in the first half, they could muster four shots in the second half. Wesleyan on the other hand had seven shots in the second period, three on goal. Panter finished with three shots, two on goal and a goal.
The Panthers will host Ursuline on Thursday for Senior Night. The match at Panther Field is scheduled for 5PM.
