Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan football team was defeated 21-3 against Ohio Dominican Saturday afternoon at Steele Stadium.
ODU began the day with a 13-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that took up 7:14 of clock to take a 7-0 advantage early.
The rest of the half was a defensive battle, as neither team was able to put up points before heading into the break.
Coming out, Wesleyan put together a 13-play, 52-yard drive that resulted in a field goal by Zach Aird. Quarterback Harrison Burch and tight end Adam Hobbs connected on two first down passes on the drive, including a 17-yard completion.
That score would hold headed into the fourth quarter, but it was all Ohio Dominican in the final frame. ODU finished off a touchdown drive with just over 14 minutes left in the game, and not even 10 seconds later, the road team registered a pick-six to put the battle away.
Running back Dominick Hollis had a strong day on the ground, tallying 57 yards on just 11 carries for a 4.7 average. Receiver DJ Perry had the best game of his young career, catching four passes for 53 yards.
Jalon Baker had another huge day defensiively, totaling 11 total tackles, seven solo and four assisted on top of 2.0 tackles for loss. Josh Noble had a strong day as well, racking up eight total tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss.
The Panthers next head on the road for their toughest battle yet this season. Wesleyan will take on currently-ranked #19 Findlay on October 18 at 11:00 AM in Findlay, Ohio, and the game will be streamed live on FloCollege.
