Owensboro, Ky. – Fatih Huyuk has been named the G-MAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for his play in the two Wesleyan wins over Northwood and Malone last week.
In the home victories over the above G-MAC foes, Huyuk averaged 17.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists while shooting a perfect 14-14 from the field.
In last Thursday's 85-50 triumph over the Timberwolves, the big man scored a season-high 18 points on 8-8 shooting on top of four rebounds and three assists.
The junior followed that performance up with another strong outing last Saturday against the Pioneers, scoring 16 points while again not missing a shot (6-6 from the field) and adding three rebounds and three assists.
He is now averaging 9.2 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting a team-high 62% from the floor during the 2024-25 campaign.
Huyuk is the first G-MAC honoree of the season for men's basketball and the 11th overall for Wesleyan athletics in the current academic year.
He and the Panthers are home once again this Wednesday, January 29, for an in-state rivalry matchup against the Thomas More Saints. Tipoff is set for 7:45 PM, with the women's basketball team set to tip at 5:30 PM to begin the doubleheader.
