Owensboro, Ky. - The Kentucky Wesleyan women's soccer team earned their second straight 3-0 victory, this time over Ursuline, on Saturday afternoon at Steele Stadium.
Wesleyan moves to 3-4-0 (2-1-0 G-MAC) while Ursuline falls to 1-4-2 (1-3-0 G-MAC).
The Panthers got the scoring started quickly, as
Haylie Panter connected with
Emily Goff on a free kick and Goff finished the job with her third goal of the season in the 10
th minute.
In the 35
th minute of the match,
Sierra Mullins chased the ball down in the corner before making a nifty one-on-one move to get to the corner of the box and launch a right-leg shot past the Arrows goalie, notching her first goal this season and extending the Panthers lead to 2-0.
Later, in the second half,
Mafalda Garcia continued Wesleyan's dominance with her first goal of 2024 off a hockey assist by
Sydney Tucker, putting the game out of reach for Ursuline at 3-0.
Kassidy Elkin earned her second 90-minute shutout of the week after leading the Panthers to a 3-0 win over Tiffin on Thursday, vaulting her into Athlete of the Week contention.
The victory breaks a three-match losing streak for the Panthers against Ursuline and brings the overall series to 11-5-1 in favor of the Arrows.
The Panthers are back on the pitch on Wednesday, October 2 for a road matchup with Cedarville. Kickoff is set for 5 PM in Cedarville, Ohio.
