OWENSBORO, KY. – In a battled of two unbeaten Great Midwest Athletic Conference teams, the Kentucky Wesleyan College men's soccer team suffered its first league loss to Tiffin University on Thursday night. The Dragons thwarted the Panthers efforts to remain undefeated by picking-up a 3-0 victory at Panthers Field.
The Panthers (4-2, 2-1G-MAC) were the aggressors for the first 15 minutes,
Jersey Lopez got the first shot of the game off at the 10-minute mark. The contest remained scoreless until the 19
th minute. The Dragons (5-2-1, 4-0-0 G-MAC) benefited from a good break as a deflection in front of the Panthers' goal landed perfectly for a near uncontested shot.
Facing their first deficit of the season, the Panthers looked to respond. However, the Dragons added another goal in the 36
th minute to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. Tiffin took nine shots in the first 45 minutes, four on goal.
Tiffin added an insurance goal in the 55
th minute and played defense the rest of the way to preserve a shut-out victory.
Jacob Boling and Lopez recorded shots on the evening.
The Panthers will have an opportunity to respond on Saturday as they will host Malone as G-MAC play continues. The match is scheduled to start at 3PM.
