Owensboro, Ky – Calum Newson scored two goals to lead the Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over crosstown rival Brescia on Wednesday night at Panther Field.
The other two Panther goals were scored by Braden Meyers-Curry, his first of the season, and Santiago Henrich, also his first of the 2024 campaign.
Wesleyan finished with a 21-10 shot advantage on the night, including nine shots on goal compared to just three for the Bearcats.
Soufian Khaloufi shined in goal for the Panthers, totaling 2 saves and tallying a 90-minute shutout of Brescia (0-5, 0-0 RSC).
Wesleyan took just a 1-0 lead into halftime after Newson, who now has three goals on the year, scored in the 36th minute.
In the second half, the Panthers really took off. Meyers-Curry's goal came in the 54th minute off an assist by Jacob Boling, Newson's second came in the 76th minute off an impressive pass by Pavel Valchev, and Henrich's came not long after in the 80th minute assisted by Jersey Lopez.
Kentucky Wesleyan (2-1, 0-0 G-MAC) returns to action this Saturday, September 14th, with a road tilt at Midway. First kick is set for 2:30 p.m. in the Panther's last match before conference play.
