OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's soccer team suffered a defeat at the hands of the University of Findlay on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers previous defeated the Oilers in Findlay this season, but at Panther Field fell 4-0. The match featured two teams contending for the top-three spots in the Great Midwest standings.
The Panthers (6-3-2. 4-2-2 G-MAC) took the first shot of the game in the fourth minute.
Callum Nolan got clear and looked to give Wesleyan an early advantage, but Findlay's keeper Grant Keegan made the save. The Oilers scored twice in each half and took an early lead with a goal in the 16
th minute and 20
th minute.
Within the next five minutes, the Panthers got shots from
Jersey Lopez and
Adrian Stokke, but each shot went wide.
Haakon Torvbraaten got an opportunity in the 31
st minute and Grant made the save to keep the Oilers in front 2-0 at the break.
Wesleyan had to the play the final 33 minutes a man short after incurring a red card. The Oilers took advantage and scored twice in the second half.
Torvbraaten took two shots on the day both on goal.
The Panthers will host Thomas More on Saturday. The match at Panther Field is scheduled for 7PM.
