OWENSBORO, KY - The Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers came across a juggernaut on Saturday afternoon, taking on the Ashland Eagles, who are currently ranked No. 1 in the nation. The Eagles proved why they are ranked so high, taking down the Panthers 6-0.
Ashland improves to 6-0-1 (2-0-1 G-MAC) while Wesleyan falls to 0-6 (0-4 G-MAC).
The Eagles grabbed goals in the 25th and 28th minutes of play to go up 2-0 at the half on the Panthers. Ashland was methodical in the second half, as they held the ball and kept pressing the Panthers, forcing the home side into mistakes of their own. The Eagles tacked on four more goals in the final 45 minutes to take the game by a 6-0 score.
Kassidy Elkin made six saves in goal for the Panthers.
Ashlyn Payton recorded Wesleyan's lone shot of the game.
The Panthers will be back at home this week when they host the Cedarville Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, September 27th. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT.
