CLERMONT, FL - After competing extremely well and pulling out a few wins to start their Florida trip, the Kentucky Wesleyan Softball Team struggled on Thursday, falling 13-2 to Bemidji State and 7-3 to Holy Family University.
Game One
The opener against Bemidji State (8-7) didn't start off too bad. Wesleyan got down 2-0 early, but cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first thanks to an RBI double from
Allie Dunn to score
Augusta Garr. The Beavers didn't hold up, going up 6-1 thanks to a four runs in the top of the second. In the bottom of hte inning, Wesleyan pulled on back on a bases loaded fielders choice from
Kennedy Matheis, scoring
Sarah Linville. The Panthers couldn't muster up any more runs, and the Bemidji State bats stayed hot, winning 13-2.
Kennedy Matheis and
Immi Mann each recorded two hits in the game.
Allie Dunn (5-9) took the loss.
Game Two
Things looked good early for the Panthers against Holy Family University (1-10), as they went up 2-1 in the second on runs from
Grace Colvin and
Kennedy Matheis. Holy Family scored four runs over the next two innings, and, despite a
Augusta Garr run thanks to a Colvin RBI, Wesleyan couldn't fight back and fell 7-3.
Grace Colvin led the way, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run, and a walk in the game.
Guinny Garr and
Sarah Linville also recorded RBI's.
Sydney Saalwaechter (0-1) took the loss for the Panthers.
Wesleyan has another early day tomorrow, as they take on Wayne State (Neb.) at 8 a.m. CT, and Millersville at 10:30 a.m. CT.
