LAKELAND, Fl. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team dropped a mid-week match-up to Florida Southern College on Tuesday night. The Moccasins won their 11
th game in a row on the back of one big inning, giving the Panthers a 12-2 defeat.
A fast-paced game quickly slowed down in the fourth inning. The Panthers (4-8) started the scoring in the top of inning as
Aric Lyons led-off by being hit by a pitch and moved to second on a stolen base. He then got to third after a wild pitch and
Kyle Werries drove-in the first run of the game with a single through the left side of the diamond.
Werries scored later in the inning on
Brandon Valdez's RBI single. The Mocs (13-4) bounced back in a big way in the bottom half of the inning. FSC scored nine runs on five hits and two errors to take a 9-2 lead.
The Mocs would add a run in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Josh Tucker started and completed 3.1 innings, allowing four runs on two hits with one strikeout. Valdez finished the game two for four with an RBI.
Bryce Zupan also collected two hits on the night.
The Panthers will have Wednesday off before opening a four-game series with St. Leo University. First pitch on Thursday night is scheduled for 5 PM CT.
