ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Kentucky Wesleyan baseball team fell 7-0 in their opening game of the Midwest Regional versus Grand Valley State on Thursday.
The top-seeded Lakers grinded away versus KWC's pitching all afternoon. GVSU plated two runs in the second, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the seventh in their eventual 7-0 victory.
Ethan Ell put up a solid start, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing four earned runs with three strikeouts to keep the Panthers in the mix.
Wesleyan's offense simply could not figure out Collin Bradley, who was named GLIAC Pitcher of the Year last week. Bradley racked up 14 strikeouts in 8.0 shutout innings pitched while only allowing two hits.
Weston Miller had another impressive relief outing for KWC, pitching 1.2 shutout innings with one strikeout.
Jacob Riegel, Tucker Hagan, and Rhett Dysholm each recorded a hit in the loss. Both Liam Hutson and Luke Renfrow added walks.
The Panthers next battle Missouri S&T in the loser's bracket game of the Midwest Regional tomorrow, Friday, March 15th, at 10:00 AM CT. The game will be streamed live on NCAA.com.
