WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team ended it trip to the Sunshine State with an 8-1 loss to Lynn University. The middle innings proved to be costly for the Panthers as the Fighting Knights did all their damage in the non-conference contest.
Lynn scored four runs in the third, three in the fourth and one more run in the sixth. After missing last season due to injury
Josh Tucker started the game and completed three innings before being chased from the ball game. Tucker allowed four runs on four hits with two strikeouts. The Knights used two extra base hits in the bottom of the third inning to take a 4-0 lead.
The Panthers allowed three more unearned runs in the fourth before playing Lynn even the rest of the way.
Evan Oakley and
Brayden Bush finished the game in relief.
Justin Lauersdorf recorded three hits on the day while
Zach Curtis drove in the lone run of the game, scoring
Hunter Hyden on a sacrifice fly.
Wesleyan will travel to Millington, Tennessee on Friday to open a four-game set against Truman State. First pitch at USA Stadium is scheduled for 2 PM.
