PAINESVILLE, OH - The Lake Erie Men's Soccer team showed the Panthers why they went to the NCAA Final Four last season, taking down Wesleyan by a score of 5-0.
LEC moves to 5-4-2 (4-2-2 G-MAC) while Wesleyan drops to 5-3-4 (2-3-3 G-MAC).
Lake Erie controlled this game from start to finish. Scoreless after the first 15 minutes of play, the Storm scored two goals within one minute of each other in the 20th and 21st minute to quickly go up 2-0. Keeping the pressure on, they scored just before the half to go into the break up 3-0. The Storm managed to score two more goals in the second half to put Wesleyan away and win 5-0.
The Panthers were out shot 15-3 by the Storm in the game. LEC kept the pressure up, as was shown by the corner kick disparity, with Lake Erie leading 7-2 in that category.
Jacob Boling had two of Wesleyan's three shots in the game.
Arthur Hill made three saves for the Panthers.
Wesleyan will look to rebound next Wednesday when they travel to Ohio to take on the Cedarville Yellow Jackets. The teams tied 2-2 earlier this season in a game that was completed six days after it's original start date due to a lightning delay at halftime. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT.
