Panthers Fall in Midweek Clash

ASHLAND, Ohio – Two of the best men's soccer teams in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference squared off on Wednesday afternoon. In another big road test for the Kentucky Wesleyan College men's soccer team, Ashland picked-up a 2-0 result. The Eagles scored two second half goals to defend homefield and earn three points in the league standings.

The Panthers (6-3-1, 3-2-1 GMAC) took five shots in the opening half, with their best chance to score coming in the fifth minute. Theo White looked to slip a shot into the bottom right of the Eagles' net, but Ty Bowden made the save. Seconds later Maxten Miller misfired on another shot attempt off a Wesleyan corner kick.

The Eagles (5-3-1, 4-2 GMAC) took eight shots in the first 45 minutes, but Arthur Hill was only tested once and made the save to preserve the shutout at the break. Matthews Roberts broke the tie in the 56th minute, giving the Eagles the 1-0 lead. Ashland added insurance with another score in the 68th minute.

Jake Peveler and Adrian Stokke looked to cut the Panthers' deficit in half, but their shots went wide or were saved. In total the Panthers recorded seven shots, two on goals. The Eagles finished with 17 shots, eight on goal. Hill converted on six saves.

The Panthers will host Lake Erie College on Saturday afternoon as Great Midwest action continues. The match at Panther Field is scheduled for 3:30PM.
