CANTON, OH - Taking part in their first tournament of the year, the Kentucky Wesleyan men's golf team finished 10th in the Malone-Glenmoor Invitational and posted one of their lowest three-round scores in recent memory (893, +29), including a team low score of 291 (+3) in their final round, the Panthers lowest score since 2020 at McKendree.
Wesleyan (298-304-291) finished just four strokes behind Northern Michigan and G-MAC rival Walsh, who each shot scores of 889 (+25).
Sophomore
Evan Beery was extremely consistant and led tied for 28th with a three round score of 222 (72-74-76, +6). Playing in his first match ever as a Panther,
Ayden Gillilan shot rounds of 74-78-72 to finish strong and tie for 38th. After coming on strong at the end of last season,
Jonah Graham (T48th) shot rounds of 78-77-71 to finish with a 10-over 226. After struggling in his first round,
Tyler Nickol came back strong, closing his tournament with rounds of 75 and 73 to take 57th with a score of 229 (+13).
Evan Schumacher closed things out for the Panthers, shooting a 231 (+15) to finish in a tie for 62nd.
Reigning G-MAC Champions Tiffin won the event with a three round score of 847 (-17). Malone's Connor Curry shot rounds of 69-65-68 to take medalist honors with a 202 (-14).
The Panthers impressive score of 893 comes after they broke 900 just once last season, including a 928 at this very same event.
Wesleyan will be back in action on Monday, October 3 when they head to Springfield, Ill. to take part in the Midwest Regional hosted by the University of Illinois-Springfield.
