SPRINGFIELD, IL - The Kentucky Wesleyan Men's Golf team was extremely consistent this week, finishing with scores of 307-308-306 to take 11th at the Midwest Regional with a final score of 921 (+57).
After going six-over in his first six holes of the tournament,
Tyler Nickol dialed it in, turning it around to shoot a 77 in the opening round. He followed that up with a 2-under 70 in round two, and an even-par 72 in the final round. His three-round total of 219 (+3) placed him 14th out of 80 golfers. Nickol also finished second in the tournament in total birdies, shooting 14 over the course of two days.
Jonah Graham placed second on the team with rounds of 78-77-75, good for a 230 (+14).
Evan Beery used a strong 76 in round one to pace him to a 235 (+19), while
Nicholas Johnson came in with a 240 (+24).
Ayden Gillilan rounded out the scoring for the Panthers with a three-round total of 245 (+29). Freshman
Harrison Sallee competed as an individual in the tournament and used a strong final round of 79 to give him a total of 252 (+36).
Wesleyan won't have much time to rest as they travel to Xenia, Ohio, for the Cedarville Invitational early next week. The tournament will take place on Monday, Oct. 10 - Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the County Club of the North.
