OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team picked up a victory on Wednesday evening in its lone home event of the 2021-22 season. The Panthers won a thrilling match over upstart Lincoln Memorial 17-14 inside Jones Gymnasium. Later in the evening, Wesleyan suffered a 40-3 loss to Lindsey Wilson.
The Panthers took the lead in the first match of the night.
Andrew Parker took care of business on senior night as he overpowered Andrew Overbay from Lincoln Memorial. Parker did most of the damage in the opening period with a quick takedown followed by a series of back points. After the first three minutes Parker bult a 14-0 lead. The match quickly ended in the second period with another take-down as parker closed out the technical fall 16-1

LMU won 174- and 184-pound weight classes to take a late 14-11 lead. Setting the stage for another senior,
Kairus Washington. Washington recorded his 35
th career win with a pin in less than two minutes, giving the Panthers a 17-14 win.
Parker won the lone match against the Blue Raiders to end the evening. Nate Becker took 3-2 lead after the first period of the 133-pound match. Parker rode Becker for the entire second period, building a near insurmountable advantage in riding time. Parker escaped to start the third period and then took Becker down again, taking a 5-3 lead. A late escape was not enough for Becker as Parker earned a 6-4 decision.
The Panthers will travel to Crawfordsville, Indiana on Thursday for a match with Division III powerhouse, Wabash. The match against the No. 3 Little Giants is scheduled for 6 PM CT.
