PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team concluded the Great Midwest Championship Duals with losses to Tiffin and nationally ranked Findlay on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers weekend was highlighted by Kairus Washington who earned All-Conference honors after going 3-1.
 
The Panthers opened Saturday with an early morning dual with the University of Findlay. The No. 12 Oilers came away with a 44-6 victory. Nick Ornelas started with an impressive 19-6 major decision at 125 pounds. Andrew Parker followed with a tough 3-0 loss at 133 pounds. A first period takedown proved to be the difference as Parker erased riding time in the third period and nearly got back points twice in the final frame.
 
Washington ended the dual with a 5-1 victory. The Panthers heavyweight did not allow an offensive point in the bout. 
 
The Dragons shutout the Panthers in the day's final dual. Washington came seconds away from a perfect record on the weekend as he suffered his first loss of the Championship, 4-3 in overtime. In the end it was a stalling call that decided the bout in the extra frame. After going 3-1, Washington earned Second Team All-Conference honors. 
 
The Panthers return home for a pair of matches on Wednesday evening. Wesleyan will host Lincoln Memorial and Lindsey Wilson. The duals are scheduled to start at 6 PM.
