CANTON, OH - Head Coach
Ken Badylak and his young squad hit the road this week for their first event of the year, and they did not disappoint. Five of the six golfers were competing in their first collegiate tournament. The lone golfer with KWC experience,
Tyler Nickol, paced the team with a 54-hole score of 225 (+9), good for a tie for 20th place.
As a team, the Panthers took eighth place with a score of 928 (+64).
Nickol picked started the tournament off with a team low score of 71 (-1) on the first 18 of the 36-hole day.
Jonah Graham followed him up with a 76 (+4), and
Evan Beery shot a 78 (+6).
Blake Kelly and
Camden Robertson closed out round one with scores of 80 (+8) each.
Robertson came out on fire in the afternoon, shooting an even par score of 72. Nickol shot a 78 (+6), with Graham comiing in at an 80 (+8), Beery with an 81 (+9), and Kelly with an 83 (+11).
Nickol was a man on a mission on Tuesday, shooting his third straight score in the 70's with a +4 76. Kelly was with him every step of the way, shooting a 76 (+4) as well. Beery stayed consistent with a 79 (+7), with Robertson and Graham each coming in with an 81 (+9).
Nickol led the team with a T20th place score of 225 (+9). In his first career college tournament, Robertson tied for 33rd place with a 233 (+17).
Jonah Graham tied for 39th with a 237 (+21), followed closely behind by
Evan Beery's T43rd place score of 238 (+22) and
Blake Kelly's T45th place score of 239 (+23).
On the individual side,
Evan Schumacher shot rounds of 85-87-80 to tie for 56th with a 252 (+36).
G-MAC foe Walsh won the tournament with a 3-round score of 871 (+7).
The Panthers head to Tiffin, Ohio for the Kyle Ryman Memorial Tournament held at the Mohawk Country Club. The two-day tournament takes place on Monday, Oct. 4 - Tuesday, Oct. 5.
