NORMAN, Okla. – For the second consecutive year, the Kentucky Wesleyan College men's golf team produced one of the nation's top grade-point-averages. The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) recognized Wesleyan as one of the top scholastic programs in Division II, finishing the season with a team GPA over 3.5, earning Presidents Special Recognition of the Outstanding Team Academic Award.
This marks the fourth season the Panthers have made the annual GCAA list for Academic Achievement and second time in as many years they have finished with one of the highest GPAs in the country. The Panthers posted a team GPA of 3.663. Only 13 schools in all of Division II reached a 3.5 GPA or higher.
Only 74 programs in all three NCAA Divisions along with NAIA and NJCAA can boost a 3.5 GPA or higher. All together 35 programs in Division II have a Team GPA over 3.0. Lander finished with the top overall GPA in all divisions, finishing the 2020-21 season with a 3.89 team GPA.
Richmond (Division I), Lander (Division II), Augsburg (Division III), Cumberland (NAIA), Dodge City (NJCAA Division I),Meridian (NLlJCAA Division II), and Virginia Union (HBCU) were all named Academic National Champions for finishing with the top GPA in their respective divisions, announced by the GCAA.
