OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team made their long awaited return to the pitch on Saturday night, falling to G-MAC foe Trevecca Nazarene in double overtime by a tally of 2-1.
The Trojans struck first, scoring in the 14th minute to jump out to a 1-0 lead. Trevecca held a slim advantage in shots, 9-6, at the half.
The Hinchcliffe sisters evened the score at 1 in the 62nd minute. Natalie took the free kick and Chloe one-timed it to the back of the net off of a deflection. It marks the first collegiate goal for Chloe in her first collegiate game.
The Panthers were outshot 12-6 in the second half but Trevecca was unable to find the net, sending the game to overtime. Trevecca scored the golden goal in the 104th minute, tucking a shot right under the cross bar.
Chloe Hinchcliffe and Ashlyn Payton paced the Panthers with three shots. Two of Payton's shot were on goal. Reegan Garrity made 10 saves in her start collegiate start in net.
Wesleyan remains home next week, hosting Findlay on Thursday and Tiffin on Saturday in G-MAC action.
