PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – With the help of some second half dramatics, the Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team produced a come from behind win on Thursday afternoon. The Panthers scored twice it the second half to earn a 2-1 result against Ursuline.
The Arrows (0-2 GMAC) scored the first goal of the match in the 21
st minute and took a 1-0 lead into intermission. Ursuline put-up intense pressure offensively in the opening 45 minutes by taking 12 shots, seven of which were on goal.
The Panthers (1-1 GMAC) continued to utilize their speed in the second half and found the equalizer in the 65
th minute.
Bree Owen scored her first career goal as she maneuvered through the Arrows defense after a leading pass from
Natalie Hinchcliffe.
Five minutes later the Panthers were on the attack again. Natalie looked to give Wesleyan the edge, but saw her shot saved by Gina Cerny. Within a minute
Chloe Hinchcliffe's shot attempt suffered the same fate.
With the action starting to push more into the Arrows zone late in the contest,
Madisyn Hunt broke free in the 86
th minute to notch her first goal of the season, the game-winner. Hunt finished the match with five shots, three on goal, and one goal.
Reegan Garrity recorded 14 saves on the night to earn her first decision of her career.
The Panthers will travel to Canton, Ohio on Saturday to play Malone. The match is scheduled to start at 12PM CT.
