ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team returned to the mat on Tuesday night against one of the best teams in the nation. The Panthers fell to No. 4 Lindenwood. In the night's second match Wesleyan lost an early lead and the match 35-17 to Central Missouri.
Against the Mules (1-7) the Panthers (1-5) benefited from two forfeits in two of the opening three matches. However, Adam Bender started the evening with an impressive technical fall at 125-pounds. Bender quickly recorded a take down followed by two different sets of near fall points to take a 10-0 lead. Things continued to trend in the same direction and by early in the second period Bender amassed enough points to end the match.
Andrew Parker and Caleb Craig each received forfeits at 133 and 141 pounds. The Mules made a comeback and tied the match after a technical fall, a pin, and forfeit. at 197 pounds Ethan Rogers took an 8-3 lead into the third period, but in the last minute was pinned.
The fourth ranked Lions (6-1) looked sharp. They started the evening with 6-2 win at 125 pounds over Bender and never looked back.
The Panthers will be in Montgomery, Alabama on Saturday for a pair of matches. Wesleyan will take on Huntingdon and Allen.
