ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team continued its season at the Lindenwood Open on Saturday. The Panthers' limited their roster in competition with an eye on the upcoming Lander Duals after Thanksgiving.
In total five members of the Panthers' team were in action on Saturday.
Adam Bender left in the consolation rounds due to injury.
Nick Ornelas won his opening round match over Maryville's Anthony Pisciotta. Ornelas utilized his experience to navigate towards a 6-5 decision in his first match of the day.
However, Ornelas' ability to win the close matches ended in the quarterfinals as he suffered a 5-3 loss to Cameron Fusco from McKendree. Ornelas suffered the same fate in the consolation third round as Carter Cox narrowly escaped with a 5-3 win over the Panthers' 125 pounder.
At 133 pounds
Andrew Parker fell in the opening round, but bounced back in the consolation second round. Parker and Trey McCartney from Marian were locked in a close match, Parker emerged with the sudden victory to advance. Parker's performance ended there as he suffered a close 9-7 loss in the consolation third round.
The Panthers will travel to Greenwood, South Carolina on Saturday December 4
th for a series of matches at the Lander Duals. Wesleyan will take-on Lander, Reinhardt, Glenville State, and Allen.
