LEBANON, Ill. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team faced-off with one of the best teams in the nation on Wednesday evening, No. 6 McKendree University. The Panthers suffered a 42-6 defeat on the night, where a year ago Wesleyan was shutout by the Bearcats 51-0.
Gabe Adams highlighted the match for the Panthers (0-1) as he opened the evening with a pin at the 149-pound match. Adams got a take down late in the first period and with four seconds remaining in the frame, pinned Josh Ramos.
At the 125-pound match
Nick Ornelas showed his conditioning as he got down early in the first two periods 10-4. Ornelas rallied back to close the gap and simply ran out of time against Cameron Fusco, dropping the decision 11-9.
Andrew Parker rallied late in his match, turning his opponent to the mat, but ran out of time as well, falling 10-3. In an exhibition match to end the evening,
Adam Bender won a 12-0 decision at 125 pounds.
The Panthers will travel to St. Charles Missouri on Saturday, November 20th to compete in the Lindenwood Open. Competition is scheduled to begin at 8 AM CT.
