PAINESVILLE, OH - It was a record setting day at Lake Erie on Saturday, as
Madisyn Hunt tied the G-MAC record by scoring her 59th career goal late in the second half. Hunt tallied two goals in the game, and
Bree Owen scored her second goal of the season to give the Panthers the 3-1 victory.
With the win the Panthers move to 4-12 (1-11 G-MAC) while the Storm drops to 2-12-2 (1-10-2).
The first half was one to forget for the Panthers, as they allowed a goal in the opening four minutes of play and only managed one shot the entire half.
The second half saw the Panthers take control, as
Madisyn Hunt broke away in the 58th minute to tie the game at 1-1. 15 minutes later, on her next shot, Hunt broke through again and scored her G-MAC tying goal to give the Panthers the 2-1 lead. Knowing they weren't out of the woods yet,
Bree Owen added an insurance goal in the 88th minute off an assist from Hunt to put the game away.
The two goals today give Hunt 13 on the season, her fourth year scoring in double figures for the Panthers.
Hunt led the way with three shots, while Owen and
Chloe Hinchcliffe each had one. The Panthers only managed three shots on goal, but made the most out of all their opportunities in the win. Goalkeeper
Elizabeth Burns made seven saves in the win.
The Panthers will close out their season next Tuesday, November 2 when they host Trevecca Nazarene for senior day. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
