KWC honors seniors in final game of the season

OWENSBORO, KY - In what was one of the best, and coldest, soccer atmosphere's of the season, the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans used a goal eight minutes into overtime to give them a 3-2 victory over the Panthers.

At halftime of the game the Panthers honored Jasmine Perry and Madisyn Hunt, each of whom will be graduating this year. Hunt will go down as the best player in KWC Women's Soccer history, holding countless records, including goals (59), points (134), and shots. Her 59 goals is tied for first in G-MAC history.

With the loss KWC finishes their season at 4-13 (1-12 G-MAC), while TNU moves to 8-6-3 (7-4-2 G-MAC) and will play in the conference tournament on Saturday against ODU.

Trevecca opened up the scoring with a goal in the 17th minute to go up 1-0. 10 minutes later, Chloe Hinchcliffe curled one past the outstretched arms of the TNU goalie to tie it up a 1-1. Neither team was able to put away another goal for the rest of the half and the teams went into the break tied a 1 apiece.

The second half started out with a goal four minutes in by Trevecca's Abbigail Legg, her second of the game. In the 70th minute of play Chloe Hinchcliffe knocked in another goal to knot the game up at 2-2. Senior Madisyn Hunt had a great chance late in the game, but the Trevecca Nazarene goalie wouldn't let any more shots by her and the teams went into overtime tied a two.

The Trojans scored the game winning goal eight minutes into overtime when an Elizabeth Burns save managed to bounce off a Trevecca forward right into the back of the net.

Madisyn Hunt led the Panthers with 16 shots, followed by seven by Chloe Hinchcliffe. All seven of Hinchliffe's shots were on goal, while Hunt managed five on goal. On their senior day, both Hunt and Jasmine Perry recorded an assist.

Elizabeth Burns made seven saves in the match.

The teams put up an incredible 52 combined shots in the match, with TNU edging out the Panthers 27-25 in that category. KWC 13-10 in shots on goal.
