Bad Bounces Stop Panthers

OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team fell to Ohio Dominican on Thursday evening. The ball bounced in the way of ODU in the 4-0 result at Panther Field.
 
The Panthers' (3-10, 0-9 GMAC) keeper Reegan Garrity was tested early as ODU (5-6-2, 5-3-2 GMAC) forced Garrity into four saves while two other shots from ODU were blocked. Maddy McCorkle looked to the give the Panthers an early led in the first five minutes, but her shot was blocked by the Dominican defense.
 
Dominican benefited from their own aggression on the night as their initial attack was deflected multiple times. In the 22nd minute, off a corner kick, the Panthers batted the ball around in their own zone, but Bailey Sedlak found the fortunate rebound and put-it away for the first goal of the match.
 
The Panthers looked to settle back in defensively, but ODU caught another break in the 41st minute as they added another score under similar circumstances. As the initial attack was deflected the ball caromed over to Alex Graver for the second goal of the match.
 
ODU went into intermission with a 2-0 lead while Garrity faced nine shots, making seven saves. Madisyn Hunt broke free a few times in the first half, but her three shots attempts in the first 45 minutes were off target.
 
Thirty seconds into the second half ODU added another goal to extend their lead to 3-0. Again, in the 58th minute they benefited from a batted ball falling into the right place for a score. Bree Owen saw her two shot attempts saved in the 65th and 67th minute while the Panthers final shot came in the 71st minute off the foot of Hunt, a shot that bounded off target.
 
Hunt finished with six shots while Owen added two shots, both on goal. Keeper Elizabeth Burns came in relief and made seven saves in 31 minutes of action.
 
The Panthers will host Cedarville on Saturday afternoon. The match at Panther Field is scheduled for 4 PM
