Panthers drop one late at Ohio Dominican

COLUMBUS, OH - Just when it looked like Kentucky Wesleyan was in for another overtime game, Ohio Dominican scored a late goal to give them a 2-1 victory over KWC.

With the win ODU moves to 7-3-3 (6-2-2 G-MAC) while Kentucky Wesleyan falls to 1-10 (1-9 G-MAC).

Ohio Dominican got on the board first, converting a penalty kick in the sixth minute to put them up 1-0. ODU would only allow three panther shots the entire half and Wesleyan entered halftime down by a goal.

KWC started off the second half with a bang, with Max Wawrin scoring a goal off the first career assist by Xavier Angel to knot the game up at 1-1. The defenses held strong following the Wawrin goal, until ODU managed to score a goal in the 86th minute to break the tie and give them the 2-1 victory.

Jake Peveler registered three shots for the Panthers, while Wawrin, Jaxon Allard, and Santiago Henrich each notched a shot on goal. Matthew Meyer made four saves in goal.

ODU held a slight edge in shots (14-10) and shots on goal (6-3). ODU took four corner kicks to KWC's one, and KWC committed 13 fouls to ODU's 10.

Kentucky Wesleyan will look to upset Cedarville on Saturday, as the Yellowjackets currently sit at 9-2-1 and are riding a five game winning streak. The game will take place at 4 p.m. CT at Panther field.
