OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team opened its season facing one of the toughest teams in the nation on Tuesday evening. The Panthers fell to No. 5 McKendree 51-0 at Jones Gymnasium.
The Bearcats did the most damage by picking-up pins in five weight classes, 141, 157, 165, 197, and 285.
Adam Bender fell by decision 7-0 to Christian Mejia at 125 pounds while
Trevor South lost 8-2 to Frankie Falatico at 149 pounds.
Andrew Parker made a comeback in the 133-pound match as he trailed 4-0 after the opening period. Parker picked-up a two near fall points in the second period but went into the third facing a 6-2 deficit. After an escape and takedown, Parker trailed 8-5, but he ran out of time to continue the rally.
The Panthers will host Lincoln College (Ill.) and Midway on Saturday afternoon at Jones Gymnasium. The first dual is scheduled to start at 12 PM with two others to follow.
