OWENSBORO, KY. - The Kentucky Wesleyan College Athletic Training room announced the addition of Certified Athletic Trainer Jared Wheatley for the 2020-21 academic year. Wheatley's first official day will be July 1st as he will provide direct support to several sports.
Wheatley comes to Wesleyan after three years as an Graduate Assistant at University of West Alabama where he worked directly with men's soccer team this past season. During the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons Wheatley was the primary contact for the both the men's and women rodeo and tennis teams.Â
During his three-year tenure at West Alabama, Wheatley provided a number of services for the department including emergency care, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of various injuries during practices and athletic contests. He also provided teaching support in the Athletic Training curriculum.Â
Wheatley has also worked in support of the College National Rodeo Finals, the Gulf South Conference Tennis Championships, and the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Football game. In 2016 Wheatley was a minor league intern in the Kansas City Royals organization. Â
In May 2017, Wheatley graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a B.S. in Athletic Training. As a student, Jared gained experience in local high schools, where he worked with football, basketball, soccer, track and field, baseball, and softball. He also worked with EKU's football and men's basketball teams along with various sports at Berea College.
Wheatley has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association since 2014. He also is a member of the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association since 2014 and the Alabama Athletic Trainers' Association since 2017.
