HAYES, Kansas – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team concluded its season on Sunday at the NCAA Super Regionals. The Panthers faced-off with some of the best in the nation at the event, getting a tough draw through the brackets.
 
Facing a tough road in the 125-pound bracket, Adam Bender lost two close matches. Bender ended his season in the consolation third round. After an opening round bye, Bender lost a 6-1 decision to Carlos Jacquez in the quarterfinals. Finally, in the consolation bracket, the redshirt freshman suffered a 7-1 decision to Tanner Cole from Central Oklahoma.
 
Suffering a similar fate at heavyweight, Kairus Washington dropped two close bouts as well. Washington entered the day 13-8 on the year, but lost 6-3 to Bellarmine's Brian Stears in the opening round. After a bye, Washington fell 7-1 to Chase Miller from Central Missouri in the consolation round to end his season.
 
The Panthers produced a series of firsts for the second-year program. First-year head coach Rob McCabe helped Wesleyan recorded its first wins and Great Midwest wins in program history. Caleb Craig also started the season as a tournament champion at 141-pounds during the Dr. Bob Kellogg Open. As the roster continues to grow, so does the programs expectations for the future.
