OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) recently held three events to encourage their peers and Owensboro community members to register to vote.
 
During National Voter Registration Week (Sept. 21-25), SAAC assisted Kentucky Wesleyan Student Government Association (SGA) with a Voter Registration Drive.  A table was set up with student volunteers all week in the Winchester Center where students could stop by and complete their voter registration forms. Over 150 students registered throughout the five-day event.
 
Additionally, a SAAC Executive Board member met with each of Kentucky Wesleyan's 21 teams during the first week of October.  Of the nearly 400 student athletes at Kentucky Wesleyan, every eligible voter is now registered.  
 
Lastly, SAAC encouraged the Owensboro community to register to vote.  Students volunteered at Smothers Park at the Owensboro RiverFront on Friday, September 25 where over 100 community members stopped by to register and ask questions on the importance of the voting process.
 
The deadline to register to vote in Kentucky has already passed.  However, there is still time to request an absentee ballot.  The deadline is tomorrow, Friday, October 9.  To request an absentee ballot in Kentucky, click HERE.
