OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's golf team placed seventh at the Music City Classic on Tuesday. Wesleyan posted rounds of 298 and 305 at General's Retreat Golf Course at the Hermitage.
Tyler Nickol posted a 36-hole career low to finish 16
th overall.
The Panthers opened play on an overcast Monday morning with a light rain falling throughout the day. Withstanding the conditions, Wesleyan posted a 10-over par team total to shoot 298.
Tyler Nickol paced the team with an even par round of 72.
Carter Dodson carded a round of two-over par 74 while
Alex Phillips shot 75.
Collins Dodson rounded out the team score with a round of 77. In the final round Nickol never got more than two-over par and with a birdie on the 35
th hole, he got back to one over par on the round and tournament. Nickol parred his final hole to shoot 73 and finish with a one-over par total of 145, which is a 36-hole career low. He also finished in a tie for 16
th out of 46 players.
On Tuesday the Panthers shot 305 in the final round while
Carter Dodson made two birdies in his final four holes to shoot 75. His two-day total of 149 finished 29
th.
Collins Dodson carded a final round 76 to finish with a 153 total.
Lance Lewis posted rounds of 83 and 81 while Philips closed out the event with a final round of 82. Southern Indiana won the team title with a 12 under par total. Zach Breault from USI took medalist honors by shooting five under par 139.
The Panthers will host their own invitational this weekend at The Pearl Club.
