CASEYVILLE, Ill. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's golf team shot its lowest round of the season on Tuesday at the Bearcat Intercollegiate, 285. Wesleyan finished seventh overall while
Carter Dodson and
Tyler Nickol finished inside the top-20.
The Panthers opened play on Monday morning ready to play 36-holes at Far Oaks Golf Club. The overnight rain and dropping temperature provided for slower play throughout the day. Wesleyan opened with a round of 305 as
Carter Dodson paced the team with three-over par round of 75.
As the second round started the Panthers collectively started to make a run up the leaderboard.
Carter Dodson and
Tyler Nickol each got their rounds under par early and continued to put their shot making on display. As the darkness began to set in, the Panthers sat at one over par as a team with three to four holes to be completed on Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday Wesleyan finished the second round in style.
Collins Dodson made three birdies in his final four holes to shoot 71.
Alex Phillips made a late birdie as well to shoot 73. Nickol made three pars to finish with 71 while
Carter Dodson carded a round of two under par 70.
Will Cornett bounced back from an opening 91 to shoot 82 in the second round.
The Panthers finished with the second lowest round of the second 18 holes, 285. It is also the lowest round of the season. Momentum continued as the third round started as the Panthers hovered around par for most of the third round. However, a lightning delay, followed by colder temperatures provided more difficult scoring conditions.
Down the stretch the Panthers finished with a final round of 306 and a 54-hole total of 896 to finish seventh. Nickol played most of his final round in red figures, but a late bogey pushed him to a closing round of 73. Nickol's 222 total placed in a tie for 16
th.
Carter Dodson shot a final round 77 to also finish in a tie with Nickol at 222.
Phillips shot a four-over par 76 to finish with a three-round total of 225 and place 26
th out of 42 players.
Collins Dodson finished 30
th after final round of 80. Cornett closed with a final round of 87. Playing as an individual at Stonewolf Golf Course,
Max Dubree, finished 20
th in a separate event.
Missouri-St. Louis took top team honors with 16 under par total of 848. Joel Sylven took medalist honors with rounds of 69-70-70.
The Panthers will travel to Old Hickory, Tennessee on Monday to compete in the Music City Classic. The 36-hole event with be contested at the Hermitage Golf Course.
