NORMAN, Okla. —The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's golf team has been honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for its outstanding academic performance, as announced by the National office on Wednesday night. For the second time in as many years Wesleyan received the GCAA's All-Academic Team Award after finishing this season with a 3.486 Team GPA.
Newberry finished with the top overall GPA in all divisions, finishing the 2018-19 season with a 3.84 team GPA. In total 39 NCAA Division II men's golf team achieved a 3.0 or higher with five surpassed a 3.5. The Panthers are one of five Great Midwest institutions that qualified for the annual list. There are 230 Division II schools that sponsor men's golf.
A total of 202 schools from all divisions submitted GPA's of 3.0 or above, with 34 of those schools earning Presidents Special Recognition Honors, finishing with a team GPA of 3.5 and above. To be eligible for GCAA Outstanding Team Academic honors a college or university must submit GPAs for each player on their official squad list for the academic year.
