FINDLAY, Ohio - The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team dropped its first ever trip to Croy Gymnasium on Saturday, falling to No. 12/13 University of Findlay in front of a packed house. The Panthers trailed by nine at the break, but were unable to complete the comeback, falling 96-77.
Findlay scored the first five points of the game but
Daniel Dzierzawski put the Panthers on the board with a fast break lay up. Back to back three pointers from Dzierzawski and
Rasheide Bell made it a four-point game with 14:39 until the break.
Four lead changes over the next four minutes saw neither team pull ahead by more than two points. Findlay took a six-point lead at the 8:22 mark but back-to-back dunks in less than 15 seconds from
Evan Milligan and
Dakota Quinn cut the deficit to two at 23-25.
Chandler Redix dished out an assist to
Evan Milligan for a three-pointer to maintain a two-point game but the Oilers closed out the first half with a 14-4 run to take a 12-point lead- their first double digit lead of the game.
Rasheide Bell knocked in a three-pointer with 35 seconds left to make it a 42-33 game at the half.
Bell made it a six-point game less than two minutes into the second half with a pair of fast break lay ups.
Brandon Hatton kept it a five-point game with a jumper and a three but the Oilers regained a double digit lead with a three of their own with 12:59. It was all Findlay from there, never forfeiting their double digit lead en route to the win.
Four Panthers tallied double figures with
Rasheide Bell leading the way with 18 points followed by Hatton with 15.
Malek Harris scored 13 while Dzierzawski tabbed 10 in addition to a team-high four assists. Warnock led the Panthers with seven rebounds followed by Dzierzawski at five.
