Panthers Edged in Overtime at Ohio Valley

VIENNA, W. Va. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team went toe-to-toe with Ohio Valley University on Saturday afternoon, dropping a tight 2-1 contest in overtime of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference matchup.  The Panthers move to 2-6-0 overall and 2-5-0 in the conference while the Fighting Scots remain unbeaten at 8-0-2 overall and 6-0-2 in the G-MAC.

The first half was neck and neck as Ohio Valley edged the Panthers in shots 11-10.  Kentucky Wesleyan proved it was quality over quantity, scoring the lone goal of the half to take a 1-0 lead to the break.

Breigh Haase took a long pass and beat the goalie on the right side of the net.  Madisyn Hunt picked up an assist on the play.

Ohio Valley fought controlled the second half, tallying 14 shots to Kentucky Wesleyan's three.  The Fighting Scots tied the game in the 86th minute to force overtime, and took less than 90 seconds to net the game winner in extra time.

Taylor Rentchler played all 100 minutes in net, stopping 13 shots and allowing two goals.  Haase led the Panthers with four shots followed by Hunt with three.  Madison Haycraft, Darby O'Nan and Kaley Burnette each tallied one shot on goal.

Kentucky Wesleyan has two home games during Homecoming week next week.  The Panthers will host Lake Erie College at 8 pm CT on Thursday followed by Ursuline College at 2:30 pm CT on Saturday.
