OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss on Tuesday night to the University of Findlay in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest. The Oilers remain unbeaten at 5-0-0 overall and 4-0-0 in conference play while the Panthers move to 0-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the G-MAC.
A tightly contested first half was nearly scoreless until Findlay scored in the 43rd minute off an indirect free kick. Jacob Stauffer made numerous highlight reel worthy saves, tabbing nine stops in the first half.
Grant Allen took over in goal at the break, making seven saves in the final frame. The Oilers scored their second goal in the 64th minute after a scramble in front of the net.
Ben Protheroe led the Panthers with seven shots, four of which were on goal. Greg Melvin tallied three with one on goal.
Kentucky Wesleyan tabbed 16 shots, the highest of any game thus far this season.
The Panthers will hit the road this weekend for a pair of G-MAC matches, taking on Malone University on Thursday, Sept. 21 followed by Walsh University on Saturday, Sept. 23.
