OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's soccer team was defeated by Ohio Valley University, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon, suffering a Great Midwest Athletic Conference loss. The Fighting Scots improve to 6-0-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the conference while the Panthers fall to 0-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the G-MAC.
Ohio Valley wasted no time getting on the board, scoring a goal in the third minute. A Panther red card in the eighth minute proved costly as the Fighting Scots scored a minute later and didn't look back. Two goals late in the first half gave Ohio Valley a 4-0 lead at the break.
The Fighting Scots added their final goal in the 64th minute to take the match 5-0. Ohio Valley tallied 29 shots during the contest, 15 of which were on goal.
Jacob Stauffer stopped nine shots while allowing three goals in nearly 72 minutes of play. Grant Allen allowed two goals and made one save in 18 minutes.
Ben Protheroe and Jalyn Clark each recorded two shots for the Panthers.
Kentucky Wesleyan will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 19 as they host the University of Findlay at 7 pm CT. The Panthers will then head to Ohio for a match against Malone on Sept. 21 followed by Walsh on Sept. 23.
