Early Lead Slips Away Against Cedarville

OWENSBORO, Ky. – An early lead slipped away for the Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team on Thursday night, dropping a 3-2 decision to Cedarville University in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest.  The Panthers fall to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play while the Yellow Jackets move to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the G-MAC.
 
At the 30 minute mark, Madisyn Hunt received a long pass from Kaley Burnette, went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and beat her to the right side to put the Panthers ahead 1-0 with her first goal of the season.
 
With less than 30 seconds remaining in the first half, the Yellow Jackets netted a goal of their own to knot the game at one.
 
Kentucky Wesleyan pulled ahead 2-1 during the 64th minute.  Breigh Haase found the back of the net during a scramble in front of goal.
 
Cedarville scored two goals in the final seven minutes of play to take the 3-2 victory.
 
Hunt led the Panthers with seven shots, four of which were on goal.  Haase tabbed four shots while Madison Haycraft tallied one.
 
Taylor Rentchler played all 90 minutes in goal, allowing three goals and making six saves.
 
The Yellow Jackets held the advantage in shots, 25-15 but the two teams were tied in shots on goal at nine.  Cedarville earned nine corner kicks during the contest while Kentucky Wesleyan had two.
 
The Panthers remain home this weekend to host the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley with kick off set for 12 pm CT on Saturday, Sept. 16.
