Panthers Shut Out Storm in G-MAC Victory

OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's soccer team earned an important Great Midwest Athletic Conference win on Thursday evening after Jacob Stauffer earned his first shut out of the season, blanking Lake Erie College 1-0.

With the win, the Panthers improve to 1-8-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the conference while the Storm fall to 4-7-0 overall and 3-6-0 in G-MAC play.

The lone goal of the match came in the 26th minute for Kentucky Wesleyan after they drew a corner kick.  Elias Humel perfectly placed a pass to Krzysztof Rapacz on the left side of the net, who one-timed it to the bottom left of the goal.

Stauffer posted his first career shutout, stopping nine shots in the full 90 minutes.

Greg Melvin and Ben Protheroe led the Panthers with three shots a piece while Rapacz tallied two.

Kentucky Wesleyan will be back in action on Sunday with a non-conference matchup, hosting Oakland City at 2 pm CT.
