OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's soccer team dropped a Thursday decision to Alderson Broaddus University at Panther Field. The Battlers took a 5-0 road Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory.
Daniel Gray scored the first goal of the match in eth 20
th minute. The Battlers (6-6-2, 5-3-2 G_MAC) took a 3-0 lead at intermission with two more goals late in the half. AB scored in the 35
th and 37
th minute. The Panthers (1-9-1, 1-8-1 G_MAC) faced 24 first half shots, seven being on goal,
Jacob Stauffer made four saves in the frame and five total on the night.
Wesleyan took 15 shots in the first half, but AB keeper Patrick Negele made four saves to preserve a shut-out. Blake Carter finished the contest in goal and faced a more furious Panther attack. Wesleyan took nine shots in the second half, seven being on goal.
Greg Melvin took five shots in the match, three being on goal.
Ben Protheroe added five shots of his own, one being on goal.
Grant Allen came off the bench to attempt five shots, three being on goal. However, none of the Panthers' attempts could get in between the pipes.
AB added goals in the 48
th and 69
th minute to add insurance and keep the Panthers from making a comeback. Kentucky Wesleyan will play Davis & Elkins on Saturday. The match is scheduled to start at 2:30 PM.
