The most decorated men's basketball program in Division II basketball history will travel to one of the toughest homecourts in the country looking to make a statement in the second half of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular season. The Croy Physical Education Center routinely features capacity crowds of 1,500 spectators for basketball games. In recent history the Oilers won as many as 71 men's basketball games in row at the Croy Center which ended in 2011 to Malone.
The Panthers finished 2016-17 sixth in the nation in scoring at 91 points per game, while the Oilers were among the top defensive teams in the country, allowing 72 points per game. Wesleyan returns two key contributors from last year's NCAA Tournament Team.
Brandon Hatton played in 31 games last season averaging over six points per game while
Malek Harris made 18 starts and played in 21 games holding a 10 points and six rebounds per game average. Findlay reached the Sweet 16 a year ago before Bellarmine ended their Title hopes.
The women's team at Findlay finished last season 13-15, however the senior class sits over .500 heading into this season. The Panthers averaged over 70 points per game last season en route to going 19-8. The Wesleyan senior class sits 29 games over .500 heading into the 2017-18 season.
Addie Reimbold played in 26 games last season making 25 starts. She averaged over five points and four rebounds per game.
Shayla Wright helped operate the high-powered offense with over two assists and eight points a night.
The basketball showcase unveiled today will initially feature 14 doubleheaders starting with Chico State and Humboldt State on Saturday, Nov. 18. An additional four flex doubleheaders (eight games total) will be finalized later, and the games are expected to highlight premier and pivotal matchups toward the end of the season.
"Division II's continued collaboration with ESPN provides an exciting opportunity to share the accomplishments of our student-athletes with a broad national audience," said Terri Steeb Gronau, vice president of Division II. "We are thrilled to continue to promote the effort of men's and women's basketball student-athletes on the court, in the classroom and in their communities."
