OWENSBORO, KY – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team is hunting for a spot in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament later this month. The Panthers' chances got better on Saturday with a 4-0 victory over Davis and Elkins.
Madisyn Hunt scored her 10
th goal of the season in the 16
th minute as she scrambled for a loose ball between D&E's keeper Lauren Hill in front of the Senators' (0-11-2, 0-9-2 G_MAC) net. Hunt got the best of that match-up for the first goal of the match. The Panthers (5-6-2, 5-5-1 G_MAC) took its advantage to intermission as
Taylor Rentchler made two saves in the frame.
Rentchler made four saves in the second frame to preserve the shut-out, her third of the season.
Breigh Haase gave Wesleyan some insurance with a score in the 46
th minute. Hunt was at it again as she scored he second goal of the match in the 65
th minute. Haase added one more score in the 83
rd minute to complete match.
Hunt also recorded an assist on the day while Haase assisted on both of Hunt's scores. Hunt has recorded six goals and one assist in the month of October.
The Panthers took 27 shots on the day, 17 being on goal. The Senators mounted 16 shots against the Wesleyan defense, six shot being on goal.
The Panthers will travel to Columbus, Ohio on Thursday to play Ohio Dominican. The match is scheduled to start at 4 PM CT.
