OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's soccer team honored its seven seniors prior to their final home game on Saturday afternoon but the Panthers suffered a 7-0 loss to Davis & Elkins College in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference matchup.
The Panthers move to 1-10-1 overall and 1-9-1 in the conference while the Senators improve to 9-2-2 overall and 8-1-2 in G-MAC play.
The Senators wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the ninth minute. A total of three goals in a three minute span gave Davis & Elkins a 3-0 lead in the 12
th minute as they took a 4-0 lead to the half. The Senators netted three goals in the second frame to take a 7-0 victory.
Greg Melvin led Kentucky Wesleyan with five shots followed by
Ben Protheroe with four.
Kaelin Hildreth and
Grant Allen each tallied three.
Jacob Stauffer stopped 15 shots while allowing seven goals in 90 minutes in net.
Kentucky Wesleyan heads to Ohio next weekend to take on Ohio Dominican on Thursday and Findlay on Saturday.
