After falling behind 2-0 in the first seven minutes of play the Kentucky Wesleyan men's team fought back to tie Georgetown and the game ended in a tie following two overtimes on Thursday, Sept. 12 at iHigh.com field.
Taylor Shaver scored both of the Tigers goals, scoring the first one on a header in the second minute. Shaver again score just prior to the seven minute mark.
Junior Gary McMeekin cut Georgetown's lead in half in the 28th minute when he put the ball past the Tigers goalie for his first goal of the season.
The Panthers outshot Georgetown 8-6 in the first half of play. Sophomore
Travis Rowland made two saves in the opening 45 minutes.
Less than 10 minutes into the second half junior
Christakis Agisilaou tied the game after heading the ball into the far post on an assist from senior
Daniel Ballard.
Neither team could snap the tie following the remainder of regulation or after double overtime.
KWC outshot the Tigers 16-14, but Georgetown had the 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Rowland completed the game with five saves on the night.
The Panthers play their home opener on Sunday, Sept. 15 against Southwest Baptist at 1:30 p.m.
