Jason Vittone serves as Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics at Kentucky Wesleyan College. He began this role on June 16, 2025.
He has over 30 years of experience in higher education and collegiate athletics, with a professional background spanning coaching, sports information, admissions, enrollment management, advancement, communications, and athletic administration.
Vittone’s connection to Owensboro began when he became the first head baseball coach in Brescia College history. Over nine seasons, he founded and led the program to five NAIA Regional appearances while also serving as Sports Information Director. Following his time at Brescia, he spent a brief period at Central Methodist University working in Admissions.
He then joined William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri, where he first served as Sports Information Director and later was promoted to Director of Athletics. In addition to overseeing 21 varsity sports, he also worked in advancement, helping secure external support for athletics programs. Under his leadership, the Owls captured five consecutive American Midwest Conference (AMC) Presidents’ Cups, expanded athletic offerings, launched the institution’s first corporate sponsorship program, secured the NAIA’s first-ever apparel and team sponsorship agreement, served as Tournament Director for the 2014 and 2015 NAIA Women’s Division I Basketball National Championships and also assisted in organizing the 2016 NAIA Cross Country Championships. He was twice named AMC Athletic Director of the Year (2013–14 and 2015–16) and served as Chair of the conference.
In recognition of his contributions to William Woods athletics, Vittone was inducted into the William Woods University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2026.
Prior to Kentucky Wesleyan, Vittone served as Director of Athletics at Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia, where he led the NCAA athletics program and advanced the institution’s commitment to providing a comprehensive student-athlete experience.
Vittone earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Illinois State University and a Master of Science in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Emporia State University, where he also served as an assistant baseball coach. He was inducted into the Emporia State University Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Hall of Honor in 2017.
Jason and his wife, Kirstie, have two sons, A.J. and Dominick, and reside in Owensboro, Kentucky.
