Former Kentucky Wesleyan College soccer All-American and 1989 Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year Ty Stauffer enters his second season as the Panther’s new assistant men’s soccer coach in 2013-14.
Stauffer, 45, returned to KWC where he served as the Panther’s inaugural women’s soccer coach in 1993.
He also held the position of head women’s basketball coach and athletic business manager for two years.
The Shelbyville, Ky. native developed and operates the SportsTutor Academy, a training soccer academy to develop technically superior athletics, for the past 10 years.
He holds a National Soccer Coaches Association of American Advanced National Coaching License and works as a staff coach in the Kentucky Olympic Development Program.
Stauffer received adidas All-American honorable mention status and twice earned All-Great Lakes Valley Conference and All-Mideast Region honors as a four-year starter and team captain for KWC.
He was the first American to win the GLVC Player of the Year Award. Stauffer also was a four-year letterwinner for the basketball team where they won the 1990 NCAA Division II National Championship.
KWC inducted Stauffer into their inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame in February, 2013.
At Shelby County High School, he captured all-region and all-state soccer recognition three straight years plus played for the 1986 Kentucky All-Star Soccer Team.
His other prep sports included three-year starter on the basketball team and as a place kicker for the football squad.
Stauffer graduated from KWC in 1991 with a Bachelors of Science in English. He and his wife, Jennifer, have four children — Rainesford, Luke, Matt and Anne.
