Fred Marshall began coaching at Kentucky Wesleyan College prior to the start of the 2016 season. Marshall’s primary duties are in the secondary as the cornerback’s coach. He also is the lead breakdown film coordinator, and also assists in recruiting and in the weight room as an assistant.
Before his arrival in Owensboro, Marshall served as a graduate assistant coach at Cumberland University (Tenn.) from 2014-2015. At Cumberland, Marshall was the safeties coach, along with running film breakdown duties, video editing, recruiting, and field maintenance.
Marshall’s playing career was spent at Presbyterian College from 2010-2013.
The Ocilla, Ga., native spent four years with the Blue Hose during their transition to Division I, redshirting his first year before playing his final three seasons. He collected 55 total tackles with three pass breakups and 1.5 tackles for loss during his junior campaign, including five stops at Wake Forest and eight versus Brevard College.
He was a First Team All-State selection at Irwin County High School as a senior, collecting 83 tackles and 14 pass break-ups, helping the Indians to the state playoffs during his sophomore and senior campaigns. Marshall was a three-time First Team All-Region selection for Coach John Gamble at ICHS as well.
He received his Bachelor’s in History with a minor in Athletic Coaching from Presbyterian in 2014 and completed a Master of Education from Cumberland in 2016.
